About Us
This company exists because of a fairly ordinary observation, which is that most people ringing a garage door number are having a bad morning and have no way of telling whether the figure they are about to be quoted is fair. We set out to be the garage door company that answers in person, says the number out loud before sending anybody, and then charges it.
Who We Are
We are a crew of garage door technicians working the whole of Los Angeles, from Sylmar and Chatsworth across the top of the Valley down to San Pedro and Wilmington on the water. Every technician is licensed, bonded and insured, works in a marked van, and carries identification he fully expects to be asked for. Between them our people have worked on more or less everything hanging in front of a garage in this city, from one piece tilt up doors on pre war bungalows in Highland Park to full view aluminium on new builds in Venice.
How We Price
The figure is settled on the telephone before a van leaves. It does not move when the technician arrives, no callout fee appears at the end, and the hour of day changes nothing, so two in the morning on a public holiday costs what a Tuesday afternoon costs. The $29 diagnostic comes off the bill the moment you approve the work. Most of what we do falls between $85 and $450, and where a job is going to cost more than that you will hear so before anybody sets out rather than after.
What We Will Not Do
We will not sell you an opener when a gear kit would have done, and our technicians are not paid in a way that would encourage them to. We will not fit a single spring to a door built for two. We will not bypass a safety sensor, whatever the reason offered. We will not reuse a frayed cable because it has a few months left in it. And we will not quote a price on the phone and then discover a reason to raise it once somebody is standing in your driveway, which is the single practice that gives this trade its reputation.
Stock on the Van
A repair that needs a second visit is a repair that has failed, so our vans carry torsion and extension springs in the common sizes, lift cables, drums, end and centre bearings, nylon rollers, hinges in every number, bottom brackets, struts, weather seal, opener gear kits, logic boards, capacitors, safety sensors, remotes and keypads. The large majority of calls are finished on the first visit. Where a job genuinely needs something nobody carries, a colour matched section for instance, you are told that in the first ten minutes and the opening is made secure before we go.
Around the Clock
Our desk is staffed around the clock, on every day of the calendar. Garage doors fail at six in the morning and at eleven at night considerably more often than they fail at two in the afternoon, and a door stuck wide open with a house behind it is not something to leave until Monday. We answer, we quote, and we come out.
Guarantees
Parts we supply carry a one year warranty and our labour carries ninety days, and both are printed on the receipt in your hand rather than mentioned in passing. Should the same fault reappear inside that window, ring the same number and somebody comes back at no charge. We are licensed, bonded and insured, and you are welcome to ask to see the paperwork before anybody opens a toolbox.
